Looked to be that our first official function in the new Hacienda was to be the wedding of Sister Sherrill's daughter Jodi. She and her fiancee, had originally planned an early April wedding that Annee & I would miss because of our Mexico trip. When we offered the Hacienda for the wedding with an earlier date, we were able to entice them to a date change. The big day was set for March 25, so Annee & Sherrill rushed to get the inside presentable and I did double time on the outside getting all the landscaping done I could. By that Friday, we were wrapping up all our wedding punch list items. Guests begin arriving by 2 PM and pitched in to get last minute stuff done. By 4 PM the Hacienda were buzzing with anticipation. The wedding was a western theme, so the bride and groom came in appropriate attire. Jodi's ring bearer was her young son, Gerhardt, and Big Donny gave her away. The service was held on our south patio with full views of the mountains to the south. By service end, after the final "I do's", not a dry eye could be found. Then the celebrating began in earnest! Jodi's brother, Joel, tended bar, and quickly lubricated all the guests gears. Annee & Sherrill had prepared a scrumptious wedding dinner, and everyone set to loading up their plates. By dark 30 everyone had fled the scene of the crime and the bride & groom had rushed off for Ouray to do whatever brides & grooms usually do. It had been a successful first big function at the Hacienda. Certainly the first of many to come.
