A Rockies SpringSpringtime in the Rockies isn't all flowers and showers. No, what it really means is that all those turkeys that winter down in the Uncompaghre Valley begin to hoof it uphill following snow line . . . Sherril's husband Don is a Past Chairman of TPC and it had been 12 years or so since he had attended the tournament. So, this year, Annee & I were Joining Don & sherril, along with his brothers & wives . . . The last week of turkey season I was expecting good friend and Arkansas hillbilly George Peters to drive out to join me and CCC in chasing gobblers over the Uncompaghre. George is a genuine Ozark turkey hunter who has held the Arkansas turkey calling champeenship 6 times. The last week of June, Annee headed off to Virginia and a visit with Diane Mitchell and Dale & Don Mauney. Dale & Don's daughter, Ginger, and her fren Sarah James, were having the coming out book signing of their new book, "The Best of Friends". In July we were visited by Sidney Gunst, his wife Sheila, and son Sid, who , at just 12 years old is planning to be a weapons specialist for the Department of Defense. While here, he showed me how he was developing a Gatlin [ Gunst ] gun that will shoot down ICBMs. Right after the Gunst's left, we had to plan for the big cowboy wedding down the valley at the big town of Colona. Young feller fren Pat Smith and his beloved, Stephanie Kaiser, who put together the Rocky Mountain Dreams calendar last fall, finally got their act together and set July 21 as their knot tying day. |
