Huntin', Fishin', & Foolin' Around Report May 2011 |
May 2011This new addition to our site is designed to bring you up to date on the “skiney” of what’s going on with us here in the high mountains of Colorado and where some ever we might be at any given time. For the months of March and April, we packed up and headed to San Carlos in Sonora,Mexico for our annual snowbird getaway trip. As the headline of this report indicates, I did some huntin’, we, did some fishin’, and we both did a lot of foolin’ around! The first week in San Carlos two frens and I got on a fast gunning dove hunt less than a half hour from the condo, and had a blast hammering doves winging on a strong wind.
And, we had the opportunity to take several fishing trips on the sea of Cortez. We scored on all trips but one, despite cool waters. We trolled some for Yellowtail, but most of our success was bottom fishing a 150’+ depths for Cabria,Calico Bass, and White Salmon. Dorado and Sierra were hitting about 30 miles south of us where the water was warmer.
As for foolin’ around, we had our share of that. Lounging on the beach, trying to drink Mexico dry, and fine and not so fine dining took a lot of our time. Naturally, we are already planning for next year.
While we were away, spring gobbler season got into full swing back in the Colorado mountains. Hopefully I’ll get a few chances for a tom, but that’s for another report. We’ll have an update monthly on this channel, so stay tuned for future “reports”! |
